Claymont Delaware has been a continuous settlement since approximately 1200 A.D. near Namaans Creek. Claymont is not a municipality but is a CDP or census designated place. Part of the Brandywine Hundred, Claymont is only a short drive to Philadelphia. Claymont Delaware takes it’s name from Claymont Court, a plantation in West Virginia. It was renamed in 1856.

The entertainment and employment opportunities of a major metropolitan area are roughly 20 minutes away in Philadelphia or slightly longer to Baltimore via I-95. State Parks, county parks and even smaller community parks are within walking or biking distance of virtually every residence.
