Catherine Rooney’s has been in Wilmington for several years, but just recently opened in Newark, DE.
We stopped by last night for dinner at around 6:30, and it was busy for Wednesday night. We waited around 20 minutes for a table, but it was worth the wait!
Catherine Rooney’s was named for the owners mothers, Catherine McCoy and Gerry Rooney-Hudecheck. I have been to the Wilmington location(my cousin Peter Casey plays there occasionally with his band Seven Rings), and was happy that they had opened a location in Newark.
Jess got the beer battered fish and chips and I got a grilled veggie wrap. They were both excellent. We had a good time talking about our trip to Ireland, so Catherine Rooney’s obviously captured the qualities of an Irish Pub.
You can find more information on Catherine Rooney’s including their menu here. If you want to order takeout, there number is 369-7330. They are open for both lunch and dinner, and serve breakfast from 10a.m.-2p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. If you want a quick trip to an irish pub with great food, stop by Catherine Rooney’s!
