Saturday night we decided to head up to Barnes & Noble in the Christiana Mall. Barnes & Noble will be opening a store on Main Street soon.
Barnes & Noble can be traced back to 1873 when Charles Barnes opened a bookstore in Wheaton, Ill. His Son, William went to New York in 1917 and joined G. Clifford Noble in establishing the Barnes & Noble bookstore. During the Great Depression, they opened what would become the flagship store on Fifth Ave and 18th Street. That bookstore is still there today.
During the 1970’s, the current CEO purchased the struggling Barnes & Noble and has transformed it into the Barnes & Noble of today.
What we love about Barnes & Noble is that you can look through the books and decide whether to purchase while having a coffee at a table. I almost always walk out of there with a book! They have a huge amount of books to choose from on every topic you can imagine, and sometimes you will find more than one book to buy. Whether you would like to buy a book, or just find yourself with a little time to browse, Barnes & Noble is a great way to spend some time with a book!
